Howdy! My name is Mackenzie Reagan-Hadley, and I am a painter, illustrator and writer from Animas, New Mexico.
When it comes to illustration, I specialize in book and narrative pieces. When it comes to painting, I enjoy dramatic landscape, animals and plein air painting a la prima where ever there’s good hiking. And when it comes to writing, I specialize in children’s picture books and middle grade novels.
Growing up on a cattle ranch in New Mexico, I flourished in the surrounding wilderness, which has easily become the most inspirational influence on my art. With a BFA in Illustration from SCAD, where I honed my skills as a visual designer and painter through an understanding of color theory, composition and style exploration to bring myself to a level of professionalism where I can properly translate the ideas and stories in my head onto a blank canvas in front of me.
I am currently in pursuit of an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School with a concentration in Writing for Children and Young Adults. I particularly like to write/illustrate children’s picture books and middle grade novels.
